November 2019 Update
News of Gibraltar International Songwriting Festival and other gigs
Some of you may remember I that I took part in the International Songwriting Gala Festival in Gibraltar last month as one of twelve hand-picked finalists from nearly 500 entries.
I had an amazing time and was very pleased that my song All for You was recognised in this way.
Sadly a badly-timed bout of laryngitis made my performance less than perfect on the night, but it was a real lesson in just doing what you can with what you’ve got at any given time. I did my best- and congratulations to all the winners. I met some wonderful people and some evil apes! Marius and I climbed the rock where we were set upon by said apes… (not unlike Mrs Coulter’s daemon from Philip Pulman’s “His Dark Materials”).
I also had the pleasure of meeting a couple of other songwriters in Bristol at Jelli Records songwriter’s evening held at the Bristol Fringe last month. It’s good to hear what others are up to. Songwriting itself can be quite a solitary pursuit.
